Deep mahogany-cocoa body of undetermined clarity with a dark beige head atop showing modest retention.
Figs, raisins, vanilla and light rum-like notes in the nose forecast a candi sugar-like character and seemingly good attenuation with moderate pepper phenols and light buttercream character, as well. No big clove, thankfully, which is the downfall of many of the big Belgian ales. Alcohol adds warmth but is pretty well-controlled. Light chocolate and earthy grains on the finish with no flaw.
Rich, chewy, well-attenuated for its size with lots of rum raisin, fig and toffee and plentiful vinous flavors on the finish. Malty-sticky body with light candi sugar and some alcohol but nothing too sharp or noxious. Wouldn’t want a lot of this but the raisin-fig-toffee character is enjoyable. Low to moderate carbonation, somewhat engaging.

Bottle - pours purple white head - nose/taste of alcohol, dark fruit, oak, plum raison -medium body.
