This is the third in our continuing Mort series. In this lovely sour ale we used 1.5 pounds per gallon of fresh, whole kiwis. Aged for 8 months in white wine barrels, we kept the skins on the fruit during the last two months of the aging process resulting in a depth of character that truly brings out the kiwi in this 10 month old sour ale.

Kiwi integrates well like New Zealander accents in Australia. Hazy golden pour with ok head. Tangy sweet finish. Some tangerine. Great mix. Among my favorites from their sours.

Location: Draft at the Wicked Weed Funkatorium, 1/2/15, Palindromic Rating #4224!

Aroma: It has a fairly subtle fruity aroma (tropical/citrus)
Appearance: The color is a murky yellow, with a small white head, and light lace
Flavor: The taste is along the same lines with the fruitiness, it's tart and a little sour
Palate: The drinkability is decent here, but hurt a touch by a rather lively carbonation
Overall Impression: I thought this was a solid beer, but not one of my tops from the Funkatorium. The kiwi was a little subdued as were the tart and sour flavors. Solid though, just not up to the high level of some of their better sours.
