Sour stout aged in oak barrels

Roasty notes and aromas balance perfectly with carefully-conditioned tartness in this barrel-aged sour stout. Aged in experienced oak barrels that have housed some of our most beloved masterpieces, Tart of Darkness deliciously executes the unique characters of a sour stout.

Bottle at Antenna America. Nice looks like a stout, but doesn't smell like it. Aroma is grapes, gaffer tape, gooseberrries. Little bit of roast hiding there somewhere.Taste is fruity, initial sourness, dark fruit, white grapes, little bit of roast at the end. Much more sour than stout, but you can feel it poking its head up occasionally. Dr pepper! Later, blackberries, bit more roast, light sweetness. Nice.

Bottle, 2017 version, 6.6%. Color: Very dar ruby to black, fast disappearing beige head. Aroma: Dark dried fruit, sourish, funk notes. Taste: Moderate to medium tart, combined with light to moderate sweet notes. Dark dried fruit, sour red berries, funky notes, wood and roasted malt hints, light vanilla hints. Over medium body, below average carbonation. Dry-ish mouthfeel at finish. Although it's a nice beer, it's lacking some complexity and balance in my opinion, compared to other sour Stouts I've had.

Caña en el Lupulo Feroz Oviedo 25..12..2018. Color marrón rojizo turbio con espuma beige que desaparece al poco casi por completo. Sabores intensos ácidos y maltosos ligeramente tostados. Ligeros caramelos y frutas pasas acabando con ligeras Maltas tostadas algo torrefactas. Cuerpo medio. Original mezcla de sabores, fácil de beber y. On bastante sabor. Bastante buena para repetir sin duda alguna.

Draught @ Beer Temple. Black colour. Beige head, short retention. Aroma's: sour, wood, a hint of roast, more reminiscent of a Flemish brown. Retronasal: sour, fruity, just hints of chocolate and dried fruit. Flavour is puckering sour with a touch of wood. Light medium bodied. Tart finish. Sour and stout, a bad combo imho, and this is so puckering sour that there's nothing to remind you of a stout anymore.

Tap at Brasserie V. Well done for the style, the hard to nail sour black ale. While it still has some oily devolved black malt tone, it is clean and drinkable too. Vinegary. Good.

Bottled 750ml. -at Kiselo Druženje 2018. Brown/black coloured, small to medium sized off-white head, malty fruity nose. Distinct sourness, berries, fruity, light sweet notes of caramel and pleasant woody (barrel) touch in the finish. Nice one.
