Tipopils is an “archetypal” beer: it embodies and corresponds to the idea of light beer settled in our DNA over many centuries. Produced by infusion with Caramunich- and Pilsner-type barley malts, brewed with a popular German bottom-fermenting yeast. German bittering and aromatic hops used both in warm and cold hopping (dry hopping). It is coarsely filtered to remove some of the yeast.

(Keg at Sori Taproom, 20170715) The beer poured golden and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had grass, grain and sweetness. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were grass, sweetness, grain, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet, grainy and bitter. A tasty pils but lacking the clean grassy taste. Yes, I’m rating to the style now.

On tap at Haand Festival. An unclear yellowish golden colored beer with a white head leaving lacing. The aroma feels a bit sweetish, with pale malts, grass and notes of hay. It has a decent bitterness in the mouth, it’s close to full-bodied, nicely carbonated and with flavors of pale malts, grass and some hay. Long finish. Not very pilsner-ish this one, but it’s a fine brew for sure. 160528

Tap at Sori Taproom, Helsinki. Colour is clear golden with small white head. Aromas and flavors: Grain, dryness, minerals and malts. Clear and clean but can’t find anything special in this one.

Bottle, BB 08.2017 (from UJH). Pours golden with whiteish head. Aroma is spicy, clove, hoppy. Flavor is sweet and bitter, dry hops, malt, more spiciness. Finish is dry bitter. On tap at Pudel, Tallinn. Clear golden with a modest, white head. Mild malty and slightly fruity and herbal aroma with grassy notes, hints of citrus and dough. Moderate sweet with fairly mild flavours, but a nice bitterness. Balanced, easy to drink and quite refreshing. Certainly a decent pilsner!

Golden with a white head - Malt aroma with some hop with citrus - Malt body with citrus hops - The malt and hoppy citrus goes into the finish with some bitterness - This was crisp and refreshing
