Reviewed from notes.
Can to snifter.
Appearance: black in color with a finger's worth of tan foamy head which slid off nicely to leave some light lace
Aroma: milk chocolate, black coffee roast, light notes of dark chocolate, light maple tones and some vanilla
Flavor: blends the prior noted aromas to a sweet to roasty blend with a finish of coffee and maple
Texture: medium bodied, somewhat sessionable, good lengthy smoothness
Overall: nicely done rich imperial oatmeal stout very worthy of returning to.

Pours mahogany-tinged black into a snifter. Mocha head with medium retenion recedes leaving spotted spiders. Chocolate, licorice and soy aromas. Medium bodied with charred chocolate and espresso front to back turning dry in the lasting vanilla finish.

Can from Colonial Spirits, Dark brown bordering on black with a frothy tan head that persists. Rich chocolate and roast with a bit of brown sugary, yeah I guess its maple and a hint of vanilla. Rich thick body with a creamy silky mouthfeel. That is a pretty damn tasty beer. Makes a heck of a half and half with a bit of Morph too.

16 oz. can in a trade with Chalumeaux. Tan head on top a a totally black Liquid. Aroma is Vermont maple syrup, chocolate, and oats. Nice.
The flavor is pretty sweet but nice. Toffee, chocolate, oat base. Oats provide a fuller / chewy body and mouthfeel. After 8 oz it got a tad overly sweet. But still nice to try.

Draught at the brewery, 1/23/16.
Dark mahogany-ebony brown with milk chocolate tints on the edges. Indeterminable clarity with a large tan head that slowly recedes to cover.
Milk chocolate, maple, vanilla and some balancing acidity from the prune-like fruitiness. A touch of coffee lingering, with no alcohol, but a bit of sharpness from the maple fermentation.
Dark chocolate and currants open up the flavor, with a toffee-maple character emerging, but also a heavily bitter, nearly astringent note that could be too much roast, or perhaps some phenolic character from the fermentation of the maple syrup. Not sure, but it makes the finish rather abrupt and a dry, bready, bland sort of phenolic character lingers somewhat strongly on the end. Medium-bodied, with good attenuation and modestly tight carbonation leading to a fairly soft texture. No alcohol noted.
