2018 non-barrel-aged version, in a 12 oz. can. Pours a murky, reddish brown color, with no real head. The nose is toffee, brandied cherries, light peat, anise, and strong resin. Sweet and bready, with a smooth, assertive bitterness. Very heavy body, with a smooth, grainy, and boozy mouthfeel. This is a fun, complex, and delicious beer. Bizarre and thoroughly enjoyable.

22oz bottle pours a dark amber with some sticky, white head. Nose has honey, caramel, booze, pine. Flavor follows, piney, caramel, malt, orange, honey. Sticky finish. Boozy too.

Green waxed 22oz bomber pours with a murky amber body that supports a thin tan head. The aroma offers up prune and dates as well as malt and molasses blunted pine hops and some woodines with a dash of booziness at the end of the draw. The taste delivers smooth malts, thin sweet prunes and then some booze. It quickly picks up notes of sweet vanilla, spicy wood and then more booze. This is nice as the beer and barrel notes create a pleasing balance. Nice sipper where the ABV is well in check.

Poured from 2014 and 2015 bottles side by side. Aroma in both are very similar, but the 2014 is a bit more oxidized and has a bit less hop notes. 2014 has more caramel and toffee while the 2015 is more hoppy with some pine and woody hop notes. Both have light alcohol spice. 2014 pours a dark brown but the 2015 is a bit lighter and redder. Moderate sized, thick, tan heads that exhibits good retention. Light lacing and moderate length legs. Flavor is fairly sweet on both but a darker, richer caramel not is present in the 2014. More toffee in the 2014 as well. Moderately strong bitterness. 2015 has a bit more hop flavors with more resin and pine. Both have similar bitterness levels and alcohol spice. 2014 has some nice oxidation with a bit of honey and sherry. Mouthfeel is medium full bodied with medium low carbonation. Low astringency and medium low alcohol warmth. Overall, a nice barleywine, but the age makes it better by accentuating all the caramel and toffee. The age also minimizes the hop profile and the oxidation adds some sweetness.

8oz pour from Mickeys. Rugged thick barrel tones. Unfiltered burgundy brown body. Massive beer, but the barrel takes some dimension away from it instead of adding to it. Rich, rugged. Deep, dark, fruity notes...but even more caramel. A beast, but forgettable, a touch syrupy.

Bottle. From notes. This was shared by zac from Olympic. Apparently the brewers rolled through town. Loads of vanilla, caramel and bourbon. I would absolutely love to try more from these guys.
