Slightly tart wheat ale fermented with guava. Aromas of tropical fruits are balanced by a touch of acidity, resulting in a crisp crushable beer. Guava king pours hazy blonde with a firm white head

Can, freshly purchased from the cooler, drunk 7/6/17.
Surprisingly clear, marigold-peach-brass with an off-white, beige-flecked head that recedes quickly to cover/ring. Nose shows plentiful black pepper phenols, raw wheat and light cereal with a moderate dose of honey-like maltiness. Guava is noted, though it’s certainly tastefully done. Bit of sulfur and/or various farmhouse-lite qualities obviously emanating from the yeast. Ends lemony with more pepper and biscuit lingering. No alcohol or flaw.
Shockingly dry with slightly fizzy carbonation and a very light body. Cracked wheat, dry grains and a bit of cereal create most of the flavor as light lemon-like acidity perks up on the finish which displays a completely attenuated guava character. Thought this was going to be a hoppy, fruited NE-style pale ale. Nope. Then thought it was going to be a big, fruity, guava bomb. Nope. Just an American wheat, really, with passion fruit suggestions. Which is totally fine. I wonder if a lot of the passion fruit character fermented out between canning and drinking? Would be curious to try it fresh on tap.

16oz can. Hazy unfiltered yellow-tan body. Thin white head. Pleasant, easy drinking. The guava is mild, and really doesn’t knock your socks off, but it is easy drinking and refreshing. Better than a lot of new school fruit beers out there, but still one of them. OK.

Pour is a cloudy, chalky blonde with a small white head. Aroma is a definite lactic acid with some minor fruitiness. Flavor is a whole lot sweeter then I thought it was going to be. I guess that’s the guava. There is also a minor tart tang to the beer with an overall wheat malt base. This was just ok. I expected this to be a bit more tart from the aroma but I got a lot of sweetness instead.
