Our Grand Prestige, brewed with four different malts, is also described as barley wine. In the ripe, full taste, bitter and sweet are remarkably well-distinguishable.
The taste of Hertog Jan Grand Prestige is appreciated by connoisseurs and enthusiasts far beyond our borders, as proven by, among other things, the golden awards at various renowned beer competitions.
As Grand Prestige is stored for longer, that wonderful taste develops even further. After a few years, the taste is reminiscent of a beautiful old port wine.

Bottle tasted at Nederlandse BierProeffestival on 17/05/2014. Brown amber colour with a nice white head. Heavy presence of caramel on the taste and in the nose with brown sugar too. Very sweet taste and aftertaste. Alcohol is well balanced and carbonation is Ok. Definetly is a nice beer. Next one please!

A beautiful colour, reddish brown, a head is really weak and beige. The nose is rich, lots of sweet and dark fruits, raisins, cherry. Temptating, sweet and fruitfull aroma. Taste of dark fruits, richness of malts, prune, raisins, quite sweet, mild bitterness, only hint of spices in the end. Taste is quite simple but not mystical. The body is not so strong as could be expexted, only medium bodied, almost no carbonation. Quite good and sweet quad, but also quite simple and one-dimensional.

Bottle, 12C. Dark brown with a pale beige head. Aroma of raisins, dried bananas, medium sherry, a little chocolate, vague herbs. Sweet with dried fruit, chocolate, licorice. Woody spices creep up towards the end. Not that boozy. Avoids cloying. Not particularly distinguished, but pleasant enough.
