In Italian, Tiramisu means “pick me up.” Inspired by the coffee flavored Italian dessert, this rich, full bodied stout is guaranteed to do just that.

Reviewed from notes.
Can to snifter.
Appearance: dark brown close to black color with a nice looking level one finger khaki foamy head which dissipated nicely to leave some light lace
Aroma: deep sweet coffee notes, roasted coffee notes, sweet cream/lactose, vanilla, milk chocolate, semi-fudgey character, light animal crackers and a touch of caramel tones
Flavor: blends the prior noted aromas to a rich decadent blend of various sweet qualities; finishes decadently sweet through all of those aromas
Texture: medium bodied, good sipper, I thought this was going to be a cloying mess on the tongue but surprisingly enough there wasn't any of that (kudos to Ellison for nailing this texture like a boss!)
Overall: what an absolutely wonderful pastry impy stout more than worthy of returning to and if I did, this would be dessert itself that night I would have this again.

Can. A- Roasty, char. A- Black color, dark liquid, beige head. T- Roasty, cocoa, mild coffee. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, roasty finish. O- No tiramisu flavors other than a bit of instant coffee. Really tasted like a plain stout with no flavor or depth. Very unimpressed.

Sergey's hunt, can
Black colour. Tired coffee aroma. Too dry and weak, it drinks like a Stout, nothing Imperial, with some dark roast, and some coffee; nothing bad, but that's it.

16oz (thx, Brian C.!) at Andrey's shared with Alex and Jamey. Appearance: almost black with a tan head. Aroma: roasty, coffee. Taste: along the same lines with lots of roasted malt notes as well as some chocolate and burnt sugar. Overall: ok.

Sampled from a can this beer poured almost black with a large fluffy brown head that lingered and left a bit of lacing. The aroma was bitter and roasty with light coffee and vanilla cream. The flavor was bitterish, toasty and a bit roasty with a hint of caramel, light vanilla cream and a touch of coffee. Medium length finish. Medium bodied and smooth.

Sample at The Draft Room during the Ellison Brewery Launch Event on 02/28/2019. Brown-black pour with a medium beige head that recedes gradually to a dense film. Small patches of lace. Aroma of coffee, malt and chocolate. Medium body with flavors of roasted coffee, chocolate malt and mild hops. The finish is charred malt and coffee. Pretty good overall.

16 oz can from Tavour. Nose is big rich coffee with hints of chocolate and vanilla. Black with a medium, lightly lacing, cinnamon tan head. Flavor is expresso mixed with a little bitter chocolate. Since it's 104F outside I'm going to use the last 8 ounces for a stout float!

On tap. Pours black with a light brown head that dissipates quickly to the edges. Aroma has dark grains and coffee with some hazelnut and a hint of roast supporting. Flavor has hazelnut and dark grains with a growing strong espresso.

16 ounce can into snifter; no can dating, but is a recent release. Pours nearly opaque dark brown/black color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and rocky khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big nutty medium roast coffee, milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, coconut, cream, frosting, almonds, cake batter, and toasted brown bread; with light notes of smoke, char, herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malts, coffee, lactose, spices, and light earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big nutty medium roast coffee, milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, coconut, cream, frosting, almonds, cake batter, and toasted brown bread; with light notes of smoke, char, herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Light herbal/spicy hop and roast/char bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of nutty coffee, milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, coconut, cream, frosting, almonds, cake batter, toasted brown bread, light smoke/char, herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malts, coffee, lactose, spices, and light earthy hop flavors; with a great roast/hop bitter/sweet balance; and zero acrid/astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from hop/char bitterness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky, and lightly sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. A tad thin for the ABV, but spot on otherwise. Minimal warming alcohol for 8%. Overall this is an awesome dessert style coffee stout! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malts, coffee, lactose, spices, and light earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the mildly bitter/drying finish. Great well rounded stout complexity, with awesome balance of coffee/lactose/spice notes to make it taste exactly like Tiramisu. Never overly sweet/heavy for a dessert stout. A really enjoyable, unique, and well made offering.
