Smooth and satisfying, this example of an historic style of beer derives its rich, chocolatey character from a blend of Brown and Chocolate malts in the brew. Its notable coffee notes and creamy finish make it a wonderful accompaniment to many sweet foods – especially chocolate pudding. 5.4% ABV.

It is all the time a pleasure to drink this beer, roasted malt, coffee, hop, dry finish and well balanced at all the phases, 26.02.17, at Prélaz, finding it in one coop.

Cask at volo.
Great chewy coffee, cocoa, even some caramels. Slightly oily, i like the natural carb, good body. Medium bitterness, coffee finish.

# 910; 12/2017. Velmi dobrý porter, výrazně pražený, dosti lékořicový, kořenitý.

Cask at Prince of Wales, Farnborough. Malty choc aroma, with sour overtones. Dark, but let down by the thin beige head. Sweet with a medium bitterness. Some sourness in the finish. Fruit & nut dark chocolate. The fruits eventually come to the fore. Light. Smooth, although also found it somewhat chalky in to the long finish. Enjoyable taste, just not 100% on the palate.

Dark black/reddish color with a thick beige head. Caramel and coffee in the aroma. Well blended flavor with dark malt, coffee, chocolate and some fruity notes. Whenever in England, I run for this one :-D
Lovely ale.

Sample from cask, Amagerbro Beerfestival 2015. Pitch black with tanned bubbles around the edge of the glass. Sweet, roasted aroma with caramel, chocolate, coffee, roasted and fruity notes. Taste is sweet/roasted. Very delicious. Medium body with a smooth, silky mouth feel. Correct temperature and carbonation. Long lasting roasted finish with coffee and chocolate. Excellent, smooth Porter. Only my second rating of a cask ale - much seek this out more.

NWAF 25 Jan 13. Ekstremt mørkebrun / svart. Lavt film-skum. Innholdsrik aroma. Svisker. Mørke plommer. Smaken er tunge, mørke frukter. Litt sherrypreg. Antydning til røyk som et bakteppe. Tørr avslutning.

Cask at the Basketmaker’s Arms, Brighton on 16th September 2013. Black with brown disappearing foam and no lacing. Roast malt aromas. Complex malt in mouth with coffee and caramel. Sweetish roast caramel finish, rather short duration. Fair body and smooth yet engaging mouthfeel.
