The amber-coloured specialty beer Troubadour Magma has the aromatic and hoppy-bitter character of an American Indian Pale Ale, but is softened by the fruitiness of a Belgian Tripel. Enthusiasts appreciate the explosion of fruity scents from dry hopping.

Pours normal muddy black, but with rather full, fluffy dark beige head. Roast grains and hops vie for the taste buds in a nicely blended beer. Bitter finish.

Appearance: Hazy deep golden color with a fine thick white head. Nice lacing.
Aroma: Fruity, some yeast and citric hoppy. Mild malty.
Palate: Medium + body. Tad sweet and a fresh bitterness. Average carbonation.
Taste: Pleasant citric hoppy, toffee, yeast (saisonish) and balanced mild round fruity flavour. Kind of plum fruity. Some spicy notes. Where did all the alcohol go? Dangerously well hidden.
Overall impression: Pure class. Note very typical DIPA! IPA meets saison and they live together in perfect harmony the rest of their lives. One more please!
Personal stats: Bottle from my Summer Santa JefVerstraete

Brutálisan ütős kis söröcske, csodálatosan szétterjedő szájaromatizálással. MIntha a láva omlana szét a padlásodon.

On Tap at YardHouse, Meridian ID Hazy dingy yellow amber witha small but fine and dense head. Classic Belgian yeast aroma but muted and soft. Some light fruitiness and pretty bitter for a Tripel.

Location: Draft at Max's on Broad, 5/3/14
Aroma: The aroma has some citrus hops, malty notes, and some yeast
Appearance: This one pours an unclear reddish-orange color with a beige head and average lace
Flavor: It has a flavor of citrus hops and yeast, with some malty flavors as well
Palate: The body is medium, it has a decent mouthfeel, and a somewhat dry finish
Overall Impression: This one is almost liked a hoppy version of a Belgian Blonde Ale. It works okay, but it wasn't a favorite for me.

Pours hazy dark amber with a frothy, lasting, off-white head. The aroma contains malt, peach, orange, grapefruit, caramel, hops, spices and yeast. It tastes medium bready & caramelly sweet and medium hoppy bitter with a long, dry, hoppy finish. The alcohol is well hidden. Medium body, oily (magma-like, indeed) texture, soft carbonation. Well balanced, complex, tasty and refreshing at the same time. A modern classic. (Edited 5/6/17)

Donker geel bier met stevige hopsmaak en volop schuimend. Bitter en fruitig, citroen en framboos. Ondanks dat dit bier licht overkomt blijft smaak lang hangen, uitstekend bier.

330ml bottle from Les Crepes de Sophie, Shrewsbury. Not as good as I remember from a couple of years ago when a kind fellow at De Proef gave me a crate! Perhaps my palette’s matured a bit since then. Who knows. This pours a wotsits orange with a good simcoe aroma. Has an appealing tanginess but it’s orangey resinous qualities become a bit cloying and alcoholic towards the end.

On tap at De Zandloper, Brugge, Belgium. An orangey/straw coloured pour with a medium white head on top. Sweet, bready, hoppy, tropical fruit aroma. Tastes sweet, hoppy, bready, malty, butterscotch and rich. Absolutely delicious, I drank so much of this in Brugge last week.
