Did we choose the name Elephant to honour the statues that guard our brewery gates, or because it's a beer you'll remember forever? Pale gold in colour, Elephant is rich in malty character, with a hint of caramel, balanced by a satisfyingly dry bitterness. Once enjoyed, never forgotten!

bottle - Pours clear yellow with a thin head and a sweet malt and corn aroma. The very sweet flavor seems to have corn adjuncts. The body is thin to medium and the carbonation fairly light. The sweet finish is mildly warming thanks to the higher abv. Meh.

Dark yellow, disappearing white head. Grain, grass and weak alcohol aroma. Sweet, somewhat malty flavour with nothing to balance it.

I had this a long time ago, 1984, at the Sterling Fox in Center, but this rating is on a bottle I just scored at the Beer Store in Moon Township. I really liked the basic Carlsburg, so I was looking forward to tasting this. The reason why I bought this was, because I noticed it was within a ratebeer style that I had yet to taste – imperial pils. The description here says it has quite an aroma, but I can’t sense too much once I pop the lid or pour it into my steeler stein. When I first popped it open, I did detect a small hint of skunkiness, but that was rapidly fading and disappeared, of course, from a green bottle, hehehh. It comes in an 11 oz bottle. Looks like your typical pale yellow american beer and has a couple of bubbles rising here and there. White head that quickly diminishes. Pretty strong alcohol initial flavor hit, with a hint of volatile bitterness. The carbonation is ok, but after a Boddingtons, I’m glad to have some tingle! Taste is better than many cheap merikan malt liquors and cheapo ice pale lagers I’m familiar with. This beer does justice for the carlsburg name, in the name of a malt likkah. Finish is not bad, just as good as many many inexpensive pale macro lagers. Nice for something different. Update: 7/2026; had a 1$ stovepipe can from JR's, and she's still the same! Hides the 7% quite well for a macro style lager!

(33 cl bottle brought home from Denmark) Clear golden color, white head. Malty grainy scent. Rather thin body. Light malty but mostly sweet alcohol taste. Sweet aftertaste. Too high alcohol and too thin body. Needs more caramel malts and more hops, and probably another yeast...

This is a funny little beer that is actually pretty wide spread in America. It is called malt liquor because of its decidedly high alcohol content. Nice coloring, a but sweet, but not really on the hoppy side at all. Alcohol taste is not as repulsive as in malt liquors or things like that thankfully. Nice beer to drink to get drunk.

I had already tried carlsberg, never really planned on trying it again on Denmark but sometimes it was the only option :) I didn’t know of the elephant version and decided to try it. Not very impressed just like a stronger carlsberg with skuny aroma.

golden/yellow with white head. Aroma of sweet malts/alcohol and hops. Sweetness with warmth from alcohol- very unpleasant!. Medium carbonation. The malt bite makes the texture seem less watery. Slight hoppy finish!
