Did we choose the name Elephant to honour the statues that guard our brewery gates, or because it's a beer you'll remember forever? Pale gold in colour, Elephant is rich in malty character, with a hint of caramel, balanced by a satisfyingly dry bitterness. Once enjoyed, never forgotten!

330ml bottle. Clear, orangey golden colour with average, fluffy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Sweet-ish, minimally grainy, pale malty aroma, plain, bitter hoppy overtones with an oxidized touch (green bottle, do I have to say more?), a touch of banana, cereals. Taste is plain bitter hoppy (hints of oxidation again) and sweet-ish, grainy, minimally strawy, pale malty, hints of cereals, a touch of banana and alcohol. Most of us had experience with this in our youth, I guess - we just wanted to get drunk.

Pours golden with a thick white head. Aroma of sweet and grassy malt. Taste has nice floral and rich dry bready notes. Palate is like a pilsener, dominated by bread with light elements of hops. Great.

Canned at 7.5% ABV. Clear deep gold with a moderate white head. Aroma: grains, candy. Medium body. Taste: sweet, malty. Grains, candy, a bit nutty, light to medium alcohol. Light to medium bitterness. Just a little bit harsh, still passable. This strong lager is not among the worst.

Brewed in Mönchengladbach, Germany. Canned. Only very slight malty aroma. Malty taste with prune and a slight metallic note. Alcohol noticed. Disappointing beer.

Burk Wilhemshill.
