Together with the Grateful Dead, we’re proud to introduce our latest collaborative iteration – American Beauty Hazy Ripple IPA.
Inspired by the Grateful Dead’s beloved “American Beauty” album, American Beauty Hazy Ripple IPA is an unfiltered India Pale Ale brewed with spelt – an ancient heirloom grain that contributes earthy notes and a natural haze – that’s then dosed with a special yeast variety to accentuate hop aromatics.
The result is a psychedelic 7.0% ABV ale that’s bursting with notes of tropical fruit and juicy citrus, while the style callout lovingly references the fan-favorite track “Ripple.”

Can at home. Pours haz golden with thin white head. Nose is intense tropical fruits and tutti frutti. Taste is sweetish, showing fruity and candy-like notes as well as some faint spicy character. Closes with a sweet finish, has light smooth body and soft carbonation.

I am holding a 12 oz can of Hazy Ripple IPA that was put up on 9/1/20. Obviously time is awasting. I shall honor this sampling with a Buffalo Bayou snifter and that is the story. The pour is a faded yellow with a stout head of pure white foam that slowly dissipates. The nose is vaguely citrusy and grassy, not a complaint at all. A drink gives a different story, I get a nice hop forwardness with some juice joining the party. Slightly sweet with pineapple and then straw and grass and field. Pleasant, more of a New England thing but then I did not select the style.

some of the aromatic qualities are very volatile as I could smell several of them when I first opened the can but after pouring into the glass they're gone and all it's left is some citrus hops that are just starting to get old. some odd spicy herbal qualities that I can't quite place. Flavors are like nose, lightly sweet up front with good carbonation and low bitter. Add a little floral some melon and peaches. Some more of that odd quality that must be the spelt. not a bad beer but I wouldn't go out of my way for it.

Can. Hazy orange with thick long lasting white head. Aroma of tropical fruits, zest, pines. Taste, solid malty base followed by oranges, zest, spicy hops. Medium long fruity hoppy finish. Good.

12oz can picked up at the state store. Pours cloudy golden with a medium sized off-white head, good lacing. Tropical fruit, grapefruit juice, pineapple, light grains, citrus peel, mild sweetness in the finish. Never thought I'd buy a DFH product again, but this was interesting.

Sample at Porch Growler. Slightly hazy orange color with a medium ivory white head that dissipates steadily to an outer ring. Short strings of lace. Floral hop, fruit and malt aroma. Light to medium body with flavors of grassy hops, citrus and malt. The finish is mildly bitter with a fruity hop aftertaste. Decent overall.
