this was my intro to the flemish sour style. I didnt do much research on the beer before trying it, and man i weas thrown back by the sourness. Its tame compared to other sour beers, but its nice, and subtle. You can still get alot fo the malt, and a tad of the hops, and the balance is really nice.

Old rating from 2017 - As 'Petrus Oud Bruin', 330ml bottle brought back from Belgium. Pours red / brown colour with a off white head. Aromas & tastes of cherry, oak, bread, caramel, candy sugar & malt. Medium body. Slight sour finish

Aroma of malt, wood, tart cherries, red fruits. Flavour is moderate sour, light sweet. Rather mild and well-balanced. Decent Oud Bruin.

Bottiglia. Il gusto al naso resta attratto dall'acetico. L'olfatto viene stimolato in maniera elevata, permanendo in maniera sufficiente. Il cappello di schiuma resiste abbastanza. La grandezza delle bollicine è media. Il colore è scuro impenetrabile. Il corpo è rotondo. L'amaro è nella media. La forza gustativa è elevata e la durata è sufficiente. Le sensazioni boccali finali risultano di birra beverina. Il retrogusto è di decente intensità. Il tetto della bocca riconosce impressioni di frutta secca, agrumi, mela verde, ciliegia, sour, acetico e verdure cotte.

Аромат немного кислый. С ходу дикие нотки от дрожжей, но не сильные, также немного сена и намеки на травянистость и карамель. Цвет бордовый, пенка средняя и быстро падает. Вкус как классический Фландрийский коричневый эль. Немного водянистый местами, но все таки все нотки в стиль. Ощущается дрожжи, немного кислоты, дерево, карамель, весьма сильная карбонизация. В послевкусие яблоки и груша с кислотой, но не сильной. В целом хороший кислый эль.

Bottle from Beers of Europe, dark reddish-brown with medium off-white head. Aroma of lemon and berry sharpness. It has a much lighter sourness than expected with a soft pillowy mouthfeel and frothy carbonation. Quite malty, light roasted, woody with cherry and a squeeze of lemon. Not overly complex but it has a certain tasty semi-session level quality which can be underrated. In all styles that are not imperial strength there should be room for none-sipping type beers. Enjoyed it.

Bottle 0,33ltr: Clear brown coloured brew with an gentle oaky sour taste, shall try to drink this one on a hot summer day.

Die Optik dieses Bieres ist sehr dunkel braun und beinahe lichtundurchdringlich. Zarte rote Reflexe lassen sich wahrnehmen. Die nussbraune, feinporige Schaumkrone wirkt dabei flaumig-stabil und sehr gut haltbar. In der Nase vernimmt man frische, fruchtig-beerige bis weichselartige, weinige, leicht balsamisch-essigartige und typische Holznoten vom Foeder. Der Antrunk kommt sehr frisch, schön spritzig, leicht säuerlich und fruchtig herb. Im Mund präsentiert sich ein angenehmer Körper mit mittelmäßiger Fülle, schöner Rezenz, seidiger Textur mit leichten Tanninen und deutlicher Trockenheit. Geschmacklich und aromatisch verbinden sich leichte Säure mit angenehmer fruchtiger Herbe. Säuerlich-herbe Noten von Weichsel, roter Traube, Aronia, Brombeere, Cranberry und Heidelbeere machen sich breit. Ebenso ein Hauch von balsamischer Essignote mit schönem Eintrag der Eichenfassnoten und die dazugehörigen Gerbstoffe (Rotwein). Ein wunderbar erfrischendes, prickelndes Gesamtbild, welches schon eine gewisse Komplexität aufweist. Sehr schön, wie sich die verschiedenen Reifegrade in diesem Bier abbilden. Im Nachtrunk wirken die säuerlich-fruchtigen Noten gut nach - jedoch macht sich zunehmend eine deutliche Bitterkeit breit, die sich in Mundhöhle und Kehle legt. Mein Fazit: Ein schöner Aperitiv oder passender Begleiter zu Blattsalaten.

(bottle 0,33l from Lidl) Overall: Average. Quite muted, light in everything. Aroma: Light sweet, light caramel, light fruity sour. Appearance: Clear brown-ruby. Medium, beige head. Taste: Medium sweet, caramel, light tart, light cherries, light bitter. Palate: Medium body. Light sticky texture. Light astringent finish.
