Rook & Vuur is a subtle balance between smoke, chocolate and chili peppers. Although it has a large complexity it is still surprisingly easy to drink. Try combining this beer with a young Gouda cheese and treat yourself. Flavor indication: Chocolate, chili, smoke Translates as Smoke & Fire

Pours black into a snifter. Significant tan head top hats rim before slowly receding to skim surface. Smoke aromas. Medium bodied with sweet caramel smoke upfront turning to charred toast in the lasting finish. No sign of the chili...

Bouteille 330ml.

Bottle. Pours dark brown, with a finger thick, creamy head. Aroma is truly tremendous, with smoke and peat, and a nice Islay whisky fell about it. Flavour is burned malts, with some caramel sweetness. Nice dry finish.

11.2 oz. bottle, pours a deep dark brown / black with a towering foamy beige head. Aroma of a firepit, ashtray, intense smoke and chili peppers - nothing subtle here. Flavour of the above, all-round smoke flavours, with some slightly sweet roasted malts and caramel flavours. Intensely smoky and definitely living up to its name - whether this is a good thing I'm not certain. Good for what it is, but not really my thing.

Draft at Delirium Hoppy Loft, Brussels. Black-brown on the pour with a moderate, off-white head. To be honest, during the first few sips I wasn’t a big fan of this beer. The smoke came across a bit like plastic. It got much better though, for whatever reason, and in the end I did enjoy it. Big smoke in the nose, subtle rubber, cocoa, some light tangy fruits. Medium sweet flavor, dominated by a smoke and mineral character. Medium to full in body with average carbonation. Semi-dry finish, tons of smoke, lasting mineral quality, some dark bread. It really grew on me. Not bad.
