Huge, very dense & fine, very stable yellow-beige head over practically black beer. Woody, chocolate, smoked, stout-sourish, lightly phenolic and DEFINITELY capsicain, already in the nose. Sourish, smoked, phenolic, black chocolate, wood and a sharpish flavour hinting at the peppers. Quite balanced, all the same. Quite well-bodied, very slick, fiery. Nice & special, but certainly not one to keep drinking...

750 ml bottle shared with steptin (or, and courtesy of him too, like all the beers this weekend). Pour maroon with a massive head, almost a gusher. Aroma of chocolate and ashes. Taste is chocolate with a smoked edge. Light body. Nice enough.

Bottle. Very dark brown with a large tan head. Aroma has smoke, chillis that are as much fruity as they are pungent, chocolate. The fruitiness of the peppers is less evident in the taste and it feels a little thin, although it still has a pleasant creaminess. Sweet with light roast, prunes, chocolate under moderate smoke. The chilli tingles a bit around the mouth but other than the modest early fleshiness doesn’t much register on the tongue. Alcohol well hidden. Has that usual De Molen thing where nothing drowns out anything else, but is complex without quite being convincing - maybe lacks a little bass note.

Bottle, 75cl corked, courtesy of plovmand. A clear, reddish dark brown beer with a nice, tan head lasting well. The aroma has a slight chemical smoke touch, with chocolate, smoke, burnt notes and maybe a hint of licorice. Slightly phenolic flavor with burnt malts, chocolate, smoke and a nice pepper taste. Full body, warming in two ways, both chili and alcohol doing their work. Nicely carbonated. Lasting finish with chili, smoke and burnt malts. A really nice one, there’s a little chemical touch to it, else it’s lovely. 100814

Thanks Jonas! Brown colour with a thin tan head. The aroma is both smokey and chocolatey. Smokey and slightly fruity palate with light chocolate. Nice beer - didn’t catch much chile pepper, but you never do in Europe.

On tap @ the brewery. Almost black opaque color, with a big uneven beige head. Strong smoky aroma with malty sweetness, a bit acidic and roasted. Flavor is rather sweet and roasted. Quite full bodied. A slightly bitter & roasted finish.
