Rook & Vuur is a subtle balance between smoke, chocolate and chili peppers. Although it has a large complexity it is still surprisingly easy to drink. Try combining this beer with a young Gouda cheese and treat yourself. Flavor indication: Chocolate, chili, smoke Translates as Smoke & Fire

BOTTLE 33 CL. Hazy deep brown, small beige head. Smell really smoky and peaty, smoked salted fish, leather. Subtle caramel sweetness, rally smoky, smoked cheese. The fishing is moderate chili heat with some ashes and smoky bitterness. Not bad, not great either.

From a 330ml bottle on 21/1/2017. Pours a very dark brown with virtually no head. The nose features smoke, bacon and chocolate. Flavour wise, it’s sweeter than expected with caramel, toffee and chocolate the main backbone, which is over layed with heaps of smoked meat and a hint of chili at the back, which settles in as you down it. The texture is a bit oily and syrupy, and the carbonation relatively soft. Full of character, quite unusual and very enjoyable.

Bottle, courtesy of Benzai, many thanks! Pours roasty brown with a short-lived beige head. Aroma of warm smoke, some bacon, but more on the fire side of the spectrum. Body is medium with umami and a low bitterness. Juicy. And the more you drink: Yes, chili peppers. The hotness fits very well with this winter-y beer. Very nice.

Thanks to the Pulfer guys I guess in Čakovec! Misty brown body. Smoked malts completely dominate this, giving notes of pancetta. Malty taste, again pancetta. Soft and slightly sweetish. No trace of chili peppers both in the taste and on the ingredients list, even though it does says Spiced somewhere, which was perplexing. Oh well, still a solid beer.
