Rook & Vuur is a subtle balance between smoke, chocolate and chili peppers. Although it has a large complexity it is still surprisingly easy to drink. Try combining this beer with a young Gouda cheese and treat yourself. Flavor indication: Chocolate, chili, smoke Translates as Smoke & Fire

[9/28/14] Draught sample at Borefts After Festival 2014 in Rotterdam. Dark brown to black. Lovely smoky meaty aroma. Roasty and smoky flavor, quite sweetish, with malt, smoked sausages, caramel, a bit of chocolate and a hot chili finish. Quite full-bodied. Could’ve been better without the chili, but still very nice.

Draught @ Eet & Bierlokaal de Molen. Pours dark brown with a tan head, nice lacings. Aroma of roasted malt, smoke, peat, wood, light caramel, hint of chillies. Flavor is malty, smoke, peat, some veggies, green chillies that finish with some warmth. Medium body, soft carbonation, finish with some lasting light chilly heat.260714

bottle - Pours near black and smells of smoke and peppers. It’s sweet with lots of smoke and mild to moderately strong spice. This beer is straightforward. It’s exactly what it says it is. Medium bodied with high carbonation, it poured with a huge head and had to be slowly poured in stages.

Stout beer with a subtle yet present taste of smoke. Some balanced pepers, that give the beer a sharp edge.

A black beer with a weak and beige head. The nose of smooth smoke, tar liquirice and smoked ham, also quite strong, sweet berries. Interesting and unordinary aroma. With high hopes to forward. Taste is also interesting, mix of red berries and smoke, some turf nad tartness. Taste is not so great than aroma. Medium bodied, almost without carbonation, uninspirating. Unique smoked beer, unfortunately, the other elements aren’t the same level as the great aroma.

Bottle .Roasty wood smoked malt aroma. Deep mahogany with a huge loose foamy tan head, chunky off-white sediment. Woody smoked malt, earthy-peaty flavor with a roasty bitter finish. No noticeable chili aroma or flavor - a little warmth at the back of the throat about half way through the beer, but without any identifiable chili flavor. Medium body, lively carbonation. Overall, smoky and earthy and pleasant enough, but nothing really distinctive. ABV very well hidden.

Bottle from ABC Beers, Den Haag. Poured a deep mahogany colour with a frothy tan head. The aroma is rich roasted malt and boozy alcohol. The flavour is strong bitter with a liqourice, malt, coffee, alcohol palate. I didn’t really get the chilli i’m afraid. I think the alcohol destroyed it. Nice, but i’ve had much better.
