Rook & Vuur is a subtle balance between smoke, chocolate and chili peppers. Although it has a large complexity it is still surprisingly easy to drink. Try combining this beer with a young Gouda cheese and treat yourself. Flavor indication: Chocolate, chili, smoke Translates as Smoke & Fire

Wszystko to tresciwe i sycace. Alkohol sprytnie ukryty. Finisz dlugo dlugo wedzony.

Bottle(#203):Deep ruby-amber coloured with a big and loose tanned head, dark-malty to caramelly nose with a touch of port-wine, a certain fruitiness and some peated malt are detectable, too; moderate sweet flavour with a slight bitterness, full bodied; a tinge of chilk shows up in the sweet-bitter and leathery finish. All in all just a mediocre De Molen product…

Smoke and caramelized meat aroma. Mahogany, thick tan head. Smoke, ash, and creosote within a red plum base. Finishes with sourwood, moss, soil, and tubers. Unbelievable earthy complexity, perhaps a bit too sweet for this style of beer. Smoke and sweetness aren’t usually complimentary.

(Draught at Pikkulintu, 20121029) The beer poured very dark brown and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had smoke, malts, tar, smoked ham and molasses. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were smoke, tar, smoked ham, liquorice, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was smoky, malty and bitter. Very intensly smoked beer but not too extreme. I didn’t notice any chilli effects.

Bottle at the Sussex Arms, Twickenham Green - 30/09/12. Extremely dark chestnut brown approaching black with a big dirty mocha head. Big smokey nose, smoked gammon and meats, you can just pick out the dark malts behind the wall of rausch! Taste follows nose, dominated by the smoke, dark fruits and a boozy finish. High end of medium bodied with soft carbonation leading to a dry smokey finish.
