Can, at Christianssand Brygghus. It pours a hazy amber body under a small beige head. The aroma is rather malty, bread, caramel and a touch of licorice, with piney, resiny hops and some grass. And alcohol of course. It's full bodied, warming and with a quite low level of carbonation. Perhaps a bit too low. The flavor too is on the malty side, with lots of hoppy flavors. Alcohol, bread, caramel, pine cones, resin and a grassy touch. Bitterness and some sweetness. Lasting finish with lots of bitterness, malty flavors and piney bitterness. Not the most complex barley wine I've had, but is sure a fine one. 190126

On tap in Oslo. Dark brown colour but not huge, creamy head but not huge either. Aroma is big pale ale style malt and hops. Flavour is heavy caramel interrupted by floral hoppy notes. No carbonation and abv is well hidden. Feels like a really strong pale ale and misses barley wine by quite a margin, but is an interesting take in that direction.

Shared can at Mi2 07.05.18 and from tap at Mi2 31.08.20 at Cardinal. Cloudy dark orange. Small beige head. Fine aroma and taste of heather, honey, sawdust, bitter marmalade and pine shoots. Solid bitterness is lingering on in dry and slightly astringenet aftertaste.

330 ml can, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 10%. Hazy reddish brown colour, small off-white head. Aroma of malts, moderate oak, hints of red wine, notes of dark dried fruits. The flavour is rich and malty as expected, but has also distinct and fairly sharp bittering hops. Sweet, but not too much. Notes of dark dried fruits again. Relatively easy drinking for a barleywine
