F: huge, almost white, long lasting. C: gold, hazy. A: malty, fruity, yeasty, banana, floral, bit peach, honey. T: malty, rich mellow fruity, peach, bit banana, yeasty, dusty, smooth mouthfeel, medium body, medium/high carbonation, may be too sweet but good balanced and for me enjoyed, 33cl bottle from 3 Fonteinen lambik-O-droom.

Another one I had years ago but apparently forgot to take notes of - so I purchased a bottle from Dranken De Moor in Haasdonk for mere rating purposes. Common Belgian blonde made for 3 Fonteinen at ’Proef’brouwerij. Thickly ’papery’ lacing, egg-white, regular, thick and frothy, very stable head over a lightly hazy, warm ’old gold’ coloured beer with slightly orange hue, misty and deeper peachy with sediment. Aroma of ripe banana (isoamylacetate - but not so much the bubblegum side of it), pear, sugarloaf, pineapple slices, powder sugar, old ginger powder, fresh camomile flowers, honey, white bread, hints of candied lemon, mandarin, cake, dry earth, sweetclover, apple juice. Crisp, fruity onset, lots of the banana ester, pineapple, pear, red apple, peach, sweet with thin sourish edges, the latter accentuated by lively carbonation, but not overcarbonated for this particular style, which is originally inspired by pale lager and as a consequence always tends to be quite effervescent; supple, bit soapy, smooth mouthfeel. Nice ’white’ bready malt sweet middle with honeyish sugar residue on top, the banana lingering all the way through, something caramelly in the middle as well; finishes drier, with some subtly onsetting, retronasal oxidation (clearly an older bottle) and floral, mildly herbal hoppiness, providing some earthy and very lightly spicy bitterness in the back of the mouth. Your ordinary Belgian blonde, sweet and ridden with banana ester, but ’honest’ and technically well-executed without any flaws. I can imagine beer geeks being disappointed by this after seeing the association with one of the finest lambic producers in the world, but clearly this beer is intended to help fund exactly that, by being accessible to a large audience accustomed to this type of quenching, straightforward, ’easy’ beers and within that context, this is far from the worst.

Train home. Directement de la bouteille. Sweet malts, grain, sugar, light wort, grassy, light metallic. Moderate sweet and bitter. Medium body, doughy and creamy. Ok, but why?

Bottle. Hazy golden color with nice white head. Aroma is bananas, spicy yeasts, some vanilla. Taste is bananas, grainy, kiwi, peppery yeasts, typically Belgian. High carbonation. Okay Blond, with an interesting fruit character, but nothing special either.

Bottle 0.33l. Almost clear, pale gold colored. AROMA- low, apples, honey, malt. FLAVOR- semi-sweet, lightly bitter, malty, honey, a bit harsh alcohol presence. Fuller bodied.
Not well balanced, not very good Belgian ale.
