Caution - If you have seafood allergies - this beer contains cuttlefish ink.
Duke dove into the waves to fight off the mighty Kraken! He came back from the ocean depths with an attitude... still the loving sheepdog, but now with eight arms to love us with! Lurking beneath the dark interior of this black stout lies a warm heart with the deep mysterious flavours of real squid ink.

473 ml can. Pours a very dark brown with full tannish head. Aromas of roasted malts and lactose. Flavors of watery dry roasted malts with bitter cola. OK. Clean old style stout

Dark brown. Not much head. Some chocolate and fudge on the nose. Soft body, touch smokey, touch of toffee, moderate bitterness. Nice stout. The best beer of my afternoon in Sooke.

Cocoa and toast. Jet black with a small white head. Cocoa and toast with a decent toasty finish.

On tap at Bad Dog, pours black with a small beige head. Aroma brings out medium roast, with little else. Flavour is quite roasted, with earthy notes, toasted malt, and some light cocoa. Bitter, dry finish. Ordinary stout.

Has a nice bright brown foamy head and murky darker brown body. The aroma is more vegetably barley, unrefined like they say, pushing up some mellow malt aromas that aren't sweet. The flavour is soft barley and coffee with a bit of a chocolate milk quality if it isn't sweetened. Medium finish and full enough on the mouth. I don't see what the squid ink is doing to any part of this, it just seems like a casual drinking stout to me.

A little salty, kind of like an oyster stout with the squid ink. Pours black with good head and lacing. Coffee and roast, quite a bitter finish. Can from The Strath.
