A deliciously robust, rich blend of hops and malt, including an English barley first used in 1905 called Plumage Archer. This traditional ale is lovingly brewed using barley from selected organic farms, including Duchy Home Farm at Highgrove.

500ml bottle - rated this before I realised the brewer. Noted "like a weaker, thinner version of Hobgoblin". Loses it in the body for me.

Bottle: Clear, chestnut-foxy coloured, stable creamy off-white foam, fruity and bready-malty nose with hops in the second row; light to moderate bitter-sweet flavour, light to medium bodied, pretty soft; shorter fruity-bitter finish. O.K., nothing to complain…

500ml bottle. Clear amber colour with average to huge, firm, frothy, minimally lacing, off-white head. Slightly sweet fruity aroma has notes of red berries, cherry, a minimal dry touch of wood and leather. Taste is slightly sweet fruity, a bit flat and minimally artificial, unspecific dry finish in wood, leather and fruit parings direction.

Bottle from Beers of Europe, King’s Lynn
Hazy amber color, small head. Mild aroma of sugar and cabbage. Some caramel flavor, with moderate bitterness, and again some flavor of vegetables.
Unexciting.

Bottle from Waitrose, Headington, Oxford, consumed at Carol & Haydns Summer party Saturday 30th June 2012 I drank this straight out of the bottle so I’m unsure of the exact colour of this. Malty & fruity with low hoppiness and a slightly metallic twang As expected really, very much the Wychwood stamp on this nothing special. A6 A3 T6 P3 Ov11 2.9

(bottle) Slightly unclear, amber colour with a firm medium-sized and slightly tanned foamy head. Cara-malty and leafy aroma with herbal and fruity hops. Mildly bitter and slightly sweet flavour, light to medium bodied with a soft carbonation. Slightly buttery cara-malty base with citric and berry-fruity hops; dry and mildly bitter and fruity hoppy finish. 28.V.12

Copper colour. Flavour has sweet red fruits. Quite a thin texture. Sweet jam-like aftertaste.
