The Château is a four year blend of spontaneously fermented and aged barrels, with an average total age of approximately 29 months in oak. After tasting, blending, transferring and bottling, the beer was further conditioned in bottles for approximately 5 more months.
All of our favorite multi-year blends have a notable Brettanomyces funk to them, but each individual composition expresses its own unique personality. As a rather old composition, this beer leans in a much funkier direction. Mineral and earth characteristics dominate the aroma, with a complexity and intensity matched in the taste. It finishes with a very dry and crisp feel, allowing a lingering impression of the aged barrels and Brett character.

Orange with a large head. Woody, vinegar and musty with a vague fruity note. Long finish. Medium body. Disappointing.

750mL bottled Feb '22, drunk 10/2/22. Mostly clear, dark beige-to-muted maize. Small, yellowish head. Softly bacterial, well-aged with plentiful funk/sulfur/mineral and light, honeyish malt notes. No acetic, with lemon and cheese rind from the lacto and lightly fruity brett. No alcohol or flaw. Soft, chesey-lactic with tart lemon and good tannin structure. Malty with strong attenuation. Honey and biscuit. Perhaps a bit unidimensional in its sourness, but it's not too sour and what's there is well-expressed. Malt texture is deep and well-attenuated, balancing nicely.

Trockener, deutlich säuerlicher Beginn, deutliche Holznoten. Würzig, deutlich bitter werdend, etwas blumig ohne süß zu sein. Säuerlich, etwas Brett, langer Nachhall. Gut! 11/11/12/11/12/11

750ml bottle thanks to Steve. Golden pour with a soft white head. Aroma starts with the requisite de Garde funk and citrus notes. Taste follows with light tartness, fruity flavors and earthy elements.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy orange gold with medium frothy white head. The aroma is strong funk, earth, rubber and oak. Medium body, funky, cheese, oak, light tartness, very good.

0,15l from tap at Arrogant Sour Festival. Yellow lightly hazy color, small white head. Smells Funk, bit cheesy, wood, light cognac. Very nice smell. Full body, soft carbonation, soft mouthfeel. Tastes earthy, peppery, heavy wood, some wine notes, tannins, grassy, herbal. Finishes rather dry and medium sour with notes of peppery notes, wood and herbal notes .nice one, taste is not that great, bit heavy herbal. 8, 4, 7, 3, 15
