Bottle at the Three Tuns, Bristol during a visit a few years ago. Poured black with a medium sized beige head. Aroma of chocolate, roasting, malt, and dark fruits. Medium sweetness, moderate roasted bitternes. Medium/full body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. Smooth finish. Very good.

Bottle on the train to Edinburgh (from Bitter Virtue) 08/12/12. Mid black with a big dirty coffee head that thins but retains well. Nose is roast malts, dark toffee, touch of booze, molasses, dark fruits, wood, port. Tastes comprises roast malt, some hop presence, barley, touch of smoke, berry fruits, light mineral tones. Medium bodied with bite, soft carbonation, bitter roast in the dry finish. Really good drop!

Bottle from Stirchley Wines and Spitoons. Dark mahogany pour with a thin tan head. Big malty liquorice aroma with liquorice notes leading to a big malty bitter liquorice flavour. A very flavourful ale.

Bottle shared from John. Pours black with a beige head. Aroma of toasted malt, chocolate and coffee. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter. Medium to full bodied with soft carbonation.

bottle at home ... oh looks perfect ... deep black ... nice solid tan brown head ... soft mellow toffee chocolate roast nose... soft chocolate ... ligth toffeee ...little charcoal coffee ... quite mellow but a bit thin, give then another 2% abv and it would be stunning as is nice but a little lack luster

500ml bottle. Pours black with a medium head. Aroma is dry roast, yeasty, meaty, some chocolate and dark fruits. Taste has fruity coffee to start and a coffee chocolate finish. Smooth.

Cask Gravity at The Hope โLiving is Easyโ Beer Fest. It pours jet black, with a thick beige head. The nose is roasted malt, smoke, spice, cocoa powder, leather and a hint of dark fruit. The taste is roasted malt, charcoal, dark fruit, port/vinous, wood, coffee, touch of tanginess, pepper, bitter chocolate and cola. Pretty full body (for the percentage) and soft carbonation. Full flavour, well balanced and damn-right delicious. Great stuff!

Cask-conditioned at the Three Tuns, Bristol 23/07/2012. Near black with a hint of red and frothy tan head. Bitter chocolate aroma with some blackcurrant lurking in the background and toasty malts. Flavour had plenty more fruit and chocolate, leading to a lingering, dryish finish with some vaguely vinous warmth. Excellent, Arbor have always brewed their dark beers well.
