Dedicated to the spirit of barley, this vintage pre-Prohibition lager was made with both corn and barley and aged in Woodford Bourbon barrels (post-Boris). It is medium-malty with traces of vanilla, honey and tobacco.

Not much aroma on this thing, has a cloudy orange body with soft foam. Flavour is all yeast with whisky notes. Mouthfeel is crisp but there's this heavy boozy whisky aftertaste. Kind of fun but heavy, the lager character is nowhere to be found and I couldn't see myself drinking too much of this.

Slight haze, darkish blond colour - definitely the barrel left a little stain on the colour of this beer. The head is medium, slightly bubbly. I might be getting a little plasticy accent from fermentation. On the palate, I get a moderate bitterness leading to a finish that blends an alcoholic signature with a lot of maltiness to the point where it almost gets sticky (I guess that's the corn talking). What's funny is that a strong pre-pro aged in old bourbon barrels is such an odd beer, yet that's exactly the sort of thing that would have been commonplace 100 years ago.

473mL can, pours a hazy golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out light bourbon, some corn, and cereal malt. Flavour is rather smoky, with cereal malts, straw, corn, and barely a trace of bourbon. Smoky and lacking barrel. It's drinkable, but not overly interesting.
