A striking, robust porter full of warmth and chocolate malt. An assortment of Belgian specialty malts form a complex structure of toasted grain and caramel flavors. Dark chocolate malt makes this porter black as night and infuses it with its distinct intense, chocolate essence.

Eugene is a robust porter named after Eugene V. Debs, an American union leader and activist who led the Pullman Railroad strike in 1894.

0.473l can from Beer Republic. Aroma of chocolate, nuts, vanilla and caramel. Pours almost black color with large soapy light brown head and poor lacing. Taste starts with light sweet but rich roasted malt and dark chocolate, follows by coffee, ash, dried fruit and vanilla, mouthfeel is smooth but dry, while finish is pretty bitter. Medium body, creamy texture and average carbonation in palate. Chocolate power…

A good enough sweeter porter. Aroma is dark malt rosty toffee. Appearance started out with a nice foamyTan head but it’s settled out quickly. Flavor is definitely on the sweet side like nose is affected by soft mouth and carbonation, not overly complex. Long rosty dark malt finish that is pleasant and fairly drinkable.

Pour is a almost black with some red highlights and a super large tan head. Aroma is a decent roast. molasses and raisin. Flavor is a minor roast, more dark fruit and a char left on the tongue. A decent pretty straight forward no frills porter.
