A striking, robust porter full of warmth and chocolate malt. An assortment of Belgian specialty malts form a complex structure of toasted grain and caramel flavors. Dark chocolate malt makes this porter black as night and infuses it with its distinct intense, chocolate essence.

Tap at Revolution Brewpub, Chicago - 04/11/12. Very dark mahogony brown vergeing on light black, with a thin tan head that soon clears to a small lake and the edges. Light roast malt on the nose, touch of chocolate, peppery, liqourice. Tastes of roast malt, dark caramelised sugars, burnt tofee, touch of smoke. Medium bodied with light spritzy carbonation. Nothing special, a small notch above average.

This beer and I have a lot in common. Draft at the sourse. Very dark brown color, thin beige head, nice lacing. Aroma of hot cocoa with a bit of espresso. Taste is coffee and milk chocolate. Decent stuff.

A deep dark porter with a thin brown head. In aroma, a sweet powdery chocolate with light dark fruits. In mouth, a smooth sweet fruity chocolate, powdery, some off astringency, a bit cloying. On tap at brewpub, Nov. 11 2011.

Opaque black, steady beige s=rusted head. Mellow, sweet chocolate aroma. Big and chocolaty, with some molasses touches. A touch sugary, but quite well done and delicious. Coffee notes in the aftertaste. Quite robust, but still capturing the Porter style well.

Sample at the brewpub. Pours brownish-black with a creamy medium light brown head that diminishes slowly. Patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt and chocolate punctuated by coffee. Medium body with flavors of dark chocolate, coffee, hops and toasted malt. The finish is sweet cocoa initially and leaves a lingering hoppy bitterness behind. Pretty good all around.

I had this on tap at Revolution. My good friend described this as a watered down porter. I agreed that for a porter it was relatively more watered than other porters, but I didn’t think it was \"watered down\". He continued to make fun of me for that statement for the next 10 min. As for this beer, I thought it was pretty good...definite chocolate and lactose notes, good balance, relatively creamy.

Sampled at Revolution. Poured near black with a brown head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma sweet dark grains with bitter dark chocolate and just a hint of dark fruit. Flavor was similar with sweet dark grains in the start, dark chocolate towards the finish with just a bit of underlying dark fruit.
