Gruit Style Lavender ale.

Co-fermented with ale yeast and lactobacillus plantarum for a clean profile and soft yet lemonade-like sourness. Aged on local hand-screened lavender flowers from Windward Lavender Farm in Chilliwack.

Nicely tart with a big lavender aroma and light lavender spiciness in the finish. Drinks like a lavender lemonade and soothes like aromatherapy.

S: tart - lemon verbena - light flowers A: hazy light golden body - thin head (somehow - even with an exploded can, this is very 'still') T: soured - lemon zest - lavendar flowers (duh!) P: perfumey (of course) - funky - super-light malts O: interesting - very subdued - soured but balanced nicely (good to sample before heading back to Vancouver, BC) 16 ounce can - Broadway Liqour Store: South Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada - purchased: 01-July-2022 - canned: 19-May-2022 - CA$4,10 - sampled: 26-July-2024

Poured from the tap. Clear gold with small white head. Lavender with a light lemon tartness. Okay.

473ml can. (4.9% ABV) Pours a clear gold with a thin, fizzy, short lived, white head that fully dissipates. Spicy aroma of lavender, ginger, cinnamon and lemon. Sweet, spicy flavour of lemon, ginger, lavender and earthy yeast in a tart lacto finish. Light body with a watery texture and lively carbonation. Refreshing and easy to drink. Not bad.

Lavender and some sour citrus. Clearish gold with a small white head. Lavender and very tart. Pretty simple but exactly as described.

Aroma is nice lavender, not too bright, and a few hints of sour lager in the background. Has a clearish deeper yellow body and minimal head. Flavour is a good mix of fruity sourness. Mouthfeel is just okay. It's a nice mix, well crafted and refreshing.

Nice lavender nose, sour, good balance, good complexity. Not balanced, but the two elements play off each other nicely, and I happen to enjoy this heavy lavender.

Draught at the brewery
Cloudy pale blond colour. White bread, some dough and yeast, but also pleasant lemon touch and a hint of lavender, with no bitterness. A bit soapy.
Refreshing.
