Crack open Yeti Imperial Stouts sophisticated sibling Oak Aged Yeti Imperial Stout. Although these beers come from the same clan, they have entirely different personalities. Aging on a blend of French and toasted oak chips infuses a subtle oak and vanilla character into Yeti's already intense chocolate, roasted coffee malt flavor and hugely assertive hop profile. Who says you can't tame a Yeti?

On tap at Elizabeth station. Pours an almost black with brown head. Aroma is chocolate and roasted malt, fruity and some chocolate butter notes. Taste is the same with oak notes and roasted malt botterness. Very good.

Bottle at THT thanks to RandomstrangerNL to try and save the pleasure of my 3000th rating. Black with good sized light brown head. Lots of dry cocoa powder, old coffee dregs, light chalk, roasted malts, fudge, soft vanilla. There’s a bit of a strange smell too it of cotton, moldy wood and granite, but when sipping the aroma is nice. Medium sweet and bitter. Over medium bodied with dry slick feel. Nice beer, though the smell is a bit of a let down.

Bottle at BruFrou. Pitch black rusty tan head and a rich savory aroma featuring licorice, cacao and oak. Great full body, drinks smooth with a 90% cacao, roasted notes and oaky elements. Great.

Pours a dark rich black brown from a bottle. Oaky coffee nose, similar flavor with dark chocolate and vanilla notes. Bitter. Okay beer.

Review from memory - had this at a weekend tasting a few months ago. Excellent looking beer, pitch black and with a tall espresso head. Roasted malts smell, along with dark chocolate, smoke and sour barrel. Taste dominated but not overwhelmed by roasted malts, bitter chocolate and some coffee, with feint vanilla notes. An excellent barrel-aged stout.

Bottle from a trade. Many thanks! Oily black, brown foam. Sweet nose of chocolate, mocha, roasted coffee and vanilla. Sweet with harsh bitterness. Good, but not my favourite stout.

Thanks for sharing the bottle Jon! Pitch black pour with a small half-finger of brown foam. Oaky, woody aroma with dark fruit and coffee with a bit of sourness. Full body with a well-rounded mouthfeel and average carbonation. Very smooth with a slight creaminess on the palate. Dry but smooth finish that coats the palate and lingers. Some light bitterness but well-balanced. --- Beer merged from original tick of Oak Aged Yeti on 06 Dec 2015 at 16:49 - Score: 8
