Cellar (my own) clearance, apparently this is already 4 years old. Honestly, I totally forgot I had this bottle. Pitch black color. Light brown head with still reasonable retention. Aroma’s: (milk) chocolate, roasted, red fruit. Flavor is moderate sweet, roasted, some bitterness and fruity sourness. Medium bodied. Chocolatey finish with some roast, moderate bitter. Still very nice, but I shouldn’t have kept it this long.

Bottle, 22oz. It pours a pitch black body and a dense, tan head of moderate size. The aroma is roasted and chocolate-ish, with some licorice hints. A pleasant hoppyness too, and then even more chocolate. Citrus peel hints. The flavor has cocoa, dark chocolate, coffee, roasted malts, some licorice hints and a fine hoppyness. Some sweetness. Full body, semi-dry and faintly warming. The finish is roasted, with cocoa, chocolate and a little hoppy bitterness. A really pleasant one, well worth a revisit if I can find it again. 131228

Pours pitch black with a tan head. Aroma has notes of roasted malt, chocolate, citrus, grape, orange, caramel and hint of coffee. Taste is medium sweet and light to medium bitter with a long chocolate, roasty and fruity finish. Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

22oz bottle. Opaque pitch black body, rusty beige head. The aroma isn’t super pronounced...kind of a neutralized mix of caramel, chocolate, wheat. Really enjoyable beer, lots of depth...takes Imperial Stout in a unique direction. At 7.8%, I’m having trouble thinking of it as imperial, but it certainly has the big, rich, hefty chocolate tones..big malt depth. Big cocoa black chocolate tones. The wheat is there, adding depth, but I probably wouldn’t catch it if I wasn’t told..adds to the dry finish. I really like how the Danes seem to be able to make drinkable Imperial Stouts. Minty chocolate specialty malt tones, not unlike a Black IPA. Really enjoyable beer, nails it.
