Novice Black Tripel is een donkerbruin bier, zelfs met een zwarte schijn, dat een droge, zoetige smaak en aangename citrus bittere nasmaak heeft. De geur is moutig en doet denken aan de korsten van vers gesneden grof brood met een vleugje caramel. Op de tong proeven we basissmaken van zuur en bitter, resultaat van een actieve gisting, nagisting en hergisting op fles en de bittering met aromatische hoppen van topkwaliteit. Zuur en bitter zijn in balans. Toetsen van koffie, caramel, noir-noir chocolade versterken het aroma.

Bottle from Wijn & Whiskyhuis Nijverdal. Aroma is dark malt with yeast, caramel, notes of red and dark fruits, light roast, bit spicy, mild liquorice and candy. Sweet flavour with a moderate bitterness. Body is medium. Sweet, but there's a lot going on here. Enjoyable.

Bottle at ZBF’13, Leuven: Very dark brown coloured brew with an somekind of bitter taste of roasted malts, also good hints of caramel.

Dark brown with a frothy, light beige head. Aroma promises berry vinaigrette, cacao, yeasty dark bread. Taste is chocolate bitter with a mild tartness at the end. Medium bodied, prickly carbonation. Doesn’t develop to a top of the line tripel, but still quite drinkable.

On tap. Pours a dark reddish brown with moderate foamy head. Aromas of candi sugar, rye bread, and raisins. Flavors follow same with a hint of Belgian yeast a bit of spice plus doughy malts. A fun Belgian.

0.33l bottle thanks to Lore. Dark brown body with a lasting beige head. Aroma of cocoa, nutmeg, orange zest, floral hops and some rye bread. Taste of candi sugar, nutmeg, orange zest, sour cherries, floral hops and even a hint of coriander. Kind of like a strong dubbel with less sugar. Nice for

dark brown colour, large, creamy beige head, which lasts forever; aroma of raisins, cherry (juice), plum, some dark berries, some cocoa powder, moderate rye bready, roasted nutty and pine resiny notes; taste has the same notes as can be felt in the aroma and some spicy-alcoholic notes; great Belgian strong ale with a hint of black IPA-like notes; I like it!
