On tap at Bad Dog, pours a deep dark reddish brown / black with a small beige head. Aroma brings out bitter cocoa powder and crisp biscuity malt. Flavour is along the same lines, with dry cocoa and earthy notes. Biting but rather unpleasantly bitter. Burnt toast on the finish. Not pleasant.

Can procured at the brewery. Pours a muddy dark brown with decent light beige head. The aroma is vegetably malts, some brown sugar. Flavour is dark sweet biscuit. Full on the mouth with a bit of a dry finish. Quite nice, full of sweet malt flavour.

Can, from the Strath in Victoria. Dark brown with a rocky head. Looks nice. The nose suggests a complex maltiness, with cocoa, nuts, and a bit of sweeter dark malts. Relatively toasty, full body, balanced bitterness. Touch of coffee. High quality brown ale.
