Cask @ Cross Keys, Harpenden. Dark gold, almost copper. Very faint aroma. Working hard you can get toast, golden syrup, yeast. Bittersweet taste; syrup comes into play in a big way. Not as balanced as I remember. Well-crafted enough but not the most exciting of best bitters.

Cask at Thomson’s. Pours golden yellow with good white head. Merest touch of carbonation. Aromas of bready malt and spicey hops. Some honey on the taste, but good balancing bitterness. Much better than the bottle.
