Cask @ Gunmaker's Arms, Birmingham with blackhaddock. Pours dark, patchy off-white head. Aroma of old water, dried dark fruit. Flavour profile presents soft roast, old water, cardboard.. generally feels like this is perhaps not in the best condition.

Cask at Gunmakers Arms, Birmingham. Aroma has malty chocolate and a hint of tobacco (but that could be the pub). Dark murky brown. Blotchy foamy beige head. It's the sour berries that are noticeable first. Followed by dark chocolate and dark malts. The sourness is in throughout. Medium bodied. Creamy. Flat-average carbonation. Long dry astringent finish. Nice enough without being overly smooth.

500ml bottle. Black with thin beige head. Chocolate, dried fruit, light berries, light roasted malts, mild bitterness, semi-sweet. Moderate body with a very low carbonation. A bit non-descript although there is nothing bad here. Its ok.

Black color with a tan layer on top. Some dotted lacing down the sides of the glass. Decent intensity in the aroma. Medium body and a soft carbonation. Ok balance between sweetness and bitterness. Mostly some roast and coffee in the flavor. Felt a bit weak. Easy drinkable. Not bad, not good.

8th Feb 2014: hand-pulled pint in the brewery after a tour around: one of three beers available in cask form on the day. Black with a good beige head on top. Roasted malt nose with both chocolate and ground coffee esters within. The taste follows along with the coffee and chocolate flavours ruling the mouth. The finish is semi-bitter and dryish. Good if basic brew.

Bottle from the brewery. Poured a dark mahogany with a frothy tan head. Lots of coffee and malt in the aroma, Liquorice and coffee notes in the flavour. The beer seems a little carbonated and is quite bitter for a porter, but that's quite agreeable and delivers a very refreshing ale. Some bitterness on the palate, but not longed lived. A very nice and extremely popular ale from Two Towers! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
