Dopplebock started out as a Lenten beer for the monks in Germany. During Lent they would forgo solid food and get all their sustenance from beer. Needless to say it was big beer with lots of unfermented dextrins. Once the public got a taste it became very popular. We call our beer Mediator because we think that a 22 ounce bottle is probably better shared than drunk alone. It's rich, toasty and malty, with a few plum notes on the palate and the slightest roasted character in the finish.

Bottle. Rich amber beer with a dark cream head. caramel and light roast aroma. Dark fruit and caramel flavor. Medium bodied. Dark fruit and caramel linger with light earthiness.

Bomber from Corti Brothers. Pours dark copper with a yellow beige head. Aroma is somewhat treacly with med dark fruits. Med body or so. Flavor is a little treacly, a touch cola, and arguably with a little plum fruit. Not at all sticky. Could be some noble hop. Nice.

The beer is a deep amber brown and fairly cloudy. The head is creamy and beige. Not much in the way of lacing. The aroma is rich with nutty malt sweetness. Pleasant caramel tone. Some perfumey dark fruitiness. Cherries and raspberries with plums and dates. The taste is sweet and full of more malt goodness. Nothing cloying about it though. Clean finish with light hop bitterness. Toasty, bready malt character shows off the depth of the style. Mild herbal hoppiness. Creamy, full mouthfeel. A bit low on carbonation, probably appropriate for the style. Tasty beer.

Bomber from ABV. Pours a clear dark copper color with a medium white head. A big sweet toffee and fruit nose. The flavor is big berries, toffee, very smooth big sweet malts. Leaves, earthy. Solid beer. Very flavorful and big.

Bottle. Pours with a hazed amber hued body with a medium sized off-white head that fades. Aromas of honey-nut cherrios, malty, grapenuts, melanoidins, nutty, munich, rich, burnt caramel, raisins and figs. Clean fermentation wise. Flavors show a light chlorine initially. Very dry and a bit thin. Grapenuts and a dry malt character. No body at all (and I like dry beers normally). Malt character is decently deep. Medium melanoidins, cereal, nutty. Very clean yeast component. Medium to lively carbonation. Dry but quite thin. Decent dopplebock. Not as flawed as a lot of attempts, but it still misses the mark a bit.

Bier was all over the map. Dark clear brown pour. No head, much lacing. Aroma of caramel malt. Full bodied flavour of sweet malt with something unpleasant. Not much finish, but what there was was a spicy pleasant. Draught. Might benefit from being laid don.

Bomber. Dark amber/copper body with a tan short-lived head. Aroma of malty caramel, cinnamon, toasted grain, chocolate and an off smell of dirty feet. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and lightly bitter. The early sweetness conveys a flavor of caramel with a hint of dark fruit. Some roasted malt taste follows along with the funkiness that showed up in the aroma. Medium body, smooth to watery texture, lively carbonation. This had lots going for it, but hard to get past the odd aroma and flavor as slight as that may have been.

Draft at Belmont Station. Nose of banana, caramel, and a bubblegum note. Clear cherry brown with a medium beige glass lacing head. Flavor is caramel, banana, and light notes of chcolate and bitterness.
