Ko Lanta brings the bright, citrusy flavours of a Thai yellow curry to the fruity crispness of a Belgian blonde ale. This beer was originally brewed for our third anniversary, and we crowd-sourced recipe ideas from our entire staff. The resulting beer has citrusy and spice notes that layer over the yeast esters and blend with subtly herbal hops for a compelling and refreshing drink.

Poured from 473mL can. Clear bright yellow gold with white head. Belgian yeast and spices, the Thai spice element is super feint in the background adding just a hint of lemongrass and ginger bite quality. Decent.

100mL pour at brewery. Pours clear yellow with a white head. Aroma has some cloves, esters, some spicy Belgian character. Flavour has some banana and cloves, pale bready malts, and a touch of spicy yeast. Carbonation is pretty weak, but the esters are well-restrained. Nice.

650 ml bottle. Pours a cloudy amber with moderate head. Aromas of sulphur, ginger, cloves, muddled citrus, and toasted malts. Flavors of lime candies, Belgian yeast, ginger and soft bready malts. Interesting.

Has a nice foggy orange body with soft white head. Smells of good wheat dough, orange juice, and yeast. Flavour is a nice heavy yeast profile with hop and pineapple notes. Full and good oiliness on the mouth. This is very nice, fruity but not excessively so.

Draft - Lemon grass and light bread. Clearish pale gold with a decent white head. Nice lemon and spice with a nice long finish.

Opaque and quite pale. On the nose it’s yeasty, bit herbal/floral, but the yeast is rather prominent. Same on the palate...peppery but very yeasty, touch of sweetness. To me, this could benefit from another week just to mellow the yeastiness out a touch.

On tap at St. Augustines, pours a hazy blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out the Thai spices upfront, with spicy Belgian yeast permeating throughout. Flavour is along the same lines, with lots of spicy saison yeast and Thai spices upfront, with a touch of underlying sweetness. Clean and well-balanced, but not particularly deep or complex. Okay.

Draught at the brewery
Cloudy blond color. Smells like soap and lemon. Good mouthfeel, nice base beer, strong spicy aroma, could have been coriander, and astringent final.
Not bad.
