Bottle at ABC Den Haag. Dark mahogany pour with a thin tan head. Malty aroma but this beer is all about the malty Sorachi Ace bitterness in the flavour. The Sorachi Ace hop suits a Russian Imperial Stout much more than an IPA. A really nice beer and worth tracking down. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle @ The 5th Danish Summer Gathering 2012, Ulfborg. Pours cloudy amber with a small white head. Heavy roasted flavor. Bitter roast and sorachi ace hops. Smooth and full bodied. Rather extreme and unrefined.

On tap at HaandFestival 2012. It’s a black one, looking really gorgeous with its dense, tan to dark beige, fingerthick head. Roasted malts, coffee, licorice and some alcohol notes in the aroma. The flavor is roasted and sweet, with licorice, a nice hoppy bitterness and some coffee-like bitterness. Full body, warming, soft and pleasantly carbonated on the palate. A tasteful, pleasant and really lovely beer. Rating: 7-5-8-4-16-4.0. 120504

Bottle. A dark brown beer with a small, dense, light tan head. Not much impact from the hops in the aroma, it’s mostly roasted malts, coffee and cocoa. The same goes for the flavor, I can’t really say I sense the hops, except for the bitterness chiming in towards the end, where it’s also quite evident. Doesn’t matter though, it’s still a fine beer, well worthy of a revisit. 120817

Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of madmitch76. Pours a pitch black with a small beige head. Sweet roasty nose with an....edge most likely from the Sorachi Ace. But in general the hops battle the hard roast base. Rich body, chocolatey roast, a slight tartness and some malty bitterness. Some late warming alcohol. The Sorachi Ace doesn’t really come through. 030812
