Jet black colour, red hue, tan head. Aroma of chocolate, roast, herbal hops, liquorice, oats and bitter coffee. Light sweet, quite bitter flavour, light hops, bit fruity, cacao, lots of liquorice, laurierdrop, some vanilla coming up. Very creamy. Full body, finish coffee, liquorice, chocolate and vanilla. Light hops shining through.
Great brew!

Opaque black - brown beer. Little tan head. Smooth palate, softish. Creamy and smooth dark malts, not bitter or roasty. Nice Sorachi hops - the lemon cream blends in very well. Smooth and well joined up. Nice one Kees.

330ml bottle from Bieresgourmet. Vertical with Ardbeg BA version

Pours pitch black with a light brown head. Aroma of vegetables, roasty malts, hints of vanilla, oak and molasses. Taste is roasty and smooth with some molasses, hints of ripe fruits, chocolate, oak and tropical notes. Finish is roasty with notes of bubblegum, dark chocolate and fruits. I’m not a huge fan of Sorachi Ace, but here it is subtle enough and doesn’t dominate the taste.

Bottle. Pours a black color with a small tan head. Has a roasted malty hoppy aroma. Roasted malty chocolate and licorice flavor with hoppy lemon hints. Has a sweetish roasted malty chocolate and licorice finish with weak hoppy hints.

pitch black with a thick head. Good lacing. Nutty, roasty aroma. Great sorachi ace flavour that melds well with the huge malty blackbone. Great.

Bottle at Cafe in de Wildemaan, Amsterdam, Netherlands, Wednesday 3rd October 2012 Shark eye black, oily, thick, heavy stout. The very friendly and helpful barnan suggested that the Sorachi Ace made this quite bitter, I tend to disagree, there was some bitterness but it was more than cancelled out by a full roastiness but very thick and heavy in mouth. There is a tangy coffee flavour, good, really good. A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov14 3.7

Aroma has some brown sugar sweetness. Flavour is also quite sweet with warming alcohol. Overall the flavour seems slightly muted but a nice burnt malt bitterness comes through.
