Cask at the Half Moon, Windlesham 09/08/12. Clear dark amber to light brown with a small off white head. Malt, hops, a little sugar on the nose but fairly weak aroma’s. Biscuity malt taste with a hint of spice light dose of caramel and hops very much in the background. Lightish body with a slightly bitter aftertaste. Drinkable beer available everywhere - doesn’t set my beer world alight!

Can’t get my head round this bitter. I have now tried it in at least 5 different pubs and it hasn’t got any better than when I first had it. This last pint (well I had 2 actually) was pulled at a remote Shropshire pub on my way to The Seven Valley Railway CAMRA beerfestival. True amber in colour, with a good white head, the beer looks fine. The aroma to me has always been caramel and hops, these two pints were no change. The beer just doesn’t taste right to me, too sweet, especially in the aftertaste. it has an almost sickly smooth feel to it, very strange for an English bitter.

Draught in London. Medium brown with a thin head. Aroma is nutty malt. Flavour starts off very thin and watery but really kicks in at the back of the mouth with a nutty spice flavour. Palate is dry

On tap at the Haymarket Bar. Pours amber with a proportional head. The nose has sweet toffee and malt loaf. The taste has treacle and more of the malt load. The palate is medium in body weight and medium in textur with a not so clean finish. Overall, good beer.
