The Magodes White IPA is a kick you in the teeth, take no prisoners, flavour filled hop bomb. Hearthstone pulled out all the stops, acquiring the legendary "Conan" yeast strain from Vermont which imparts light citrus and peachy goodness. Next they kick it up with a healthy dose of HOP HASH, imparting massive notes of juicy fruit, sliced mango and kittens! Enjoy friend!

Draught, Darby’s Gastown. Just a touch of haze. Nice head. Vaguely citrusy hop and a touch of coriander. Mellow bitterness from hops but the spice is harsh. To me, that’s stale spice, where the aromatic oils are gone but the harsh bitterness remains.

Draught at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver
Hazy blond color, no signs of head. Mild aroma of hops and medicinal herbs. Dry mouthfeel, not weak; light pale malts in the background, dominated by strong pithy bitterness, and a hint of cloves in the final that could be from the yeast. I sense some vegetables too in the final.
Unbalanced and rough; not very pleasant.

On tap at St. Augustine's, pours a clear pale blonde with a small white head. Aroma is quite heavy on the hoppy bitterness, with a heavy herbal and earthy quality, and underlying Belgian yeast. Flavour is extremely bitter, with lots of bitter floral, herbal and earthy hops, with subdued Belgian yeast. The bitternsss isn't pleasant and the actual hop flavour is pretty flat and earthy. Unbalanced and abrasive. Not good.
