Good clearish medium copper body and okay foam. Kind of a tinny malt aroma, hint of hops, I wouldn't say ESB but not bad. Flavour is nice cereal and biscuit, a bit of malt, lingering caramel. Smooth, not bad, a real ESB fan would be horrified but it's okay.

Bright amber, with a thin head. The aroma heavy on the caramel, sweet, and really getting towards some bubblegum phenols in there as well, which is a bit unfortunate. Low bitterness, a bit woody, again heavy caramel. Simple malt character, hops really understated and it's on the sticky side...something is up with the yeast character on this one. It's really out of style.

On tap at St. Augustine's, pours a clear copper amber with a small beige head. Aroma brings out subtle English hops, light toffee and bready malt. Flavour is rather authentically English, with bitter English hops, bready caramel malt and some toasted bread notes. Bitter finish, but appropriately balanced. Pretty solid for the style.

Bottle - Bready with some soft grains. Clear amber with a rich off white head. Light sweetness and a touch of bitterness.
