Dark in colour but not in flavour, bright hop character with plenty of citrus and lightly tropical pallet combined with delicious bitterness backed with hints of coffee and chocolate.

Bottle, at Christianssand Brygghus. It’s a dark brown beer, topped by a finger-thick light tan head. It’s quite roasted on the nose, with a rather evident piney and resiny hoppiness. Full body, pleasant carbonation and smooth. Lasting roasted finish with some chocolate and a fine shot of bitterness. Pleasant indeed. 121004

660 ml bottle @ Christianssand Brygghus. A dark amber body with a dense beige head. Aroma of light roasted malt, caramel and fruity hops. Flavor is nice roasted malt, citric fruity with pleasant bitterness. Nothing really complicated here, but delicately balanced mix of dark malt and hops at a modest alcohol level. Nice, tasty, pleasant and impressive.

Sampled from 66cl bottle at Beer Enthusiast release party, Håndverkerstuene. Pours very dark ruby with an off-white to beige head. Hoppy and fruity aroma with some roasted notes. Flavour of pine, dark and bitter chocolate with hints of coffee and smoke. Fairly light body. Nice balance between the dark and the hoppy flavours. Lightly sweet with a fresh and bitter finish. Quite bitter and citrusy aftertaste with some roasty notes. Very nice BIPA!

Dark brown, almost opaque, small beige head. Leafy hoppyness, inky aroma. Light bodied. Toasted maltyness, coffee, sharp citrusy hoppyness. Lingering toasty, hoppy aftertaste. Nice light IPA!

Bottled@vPBF2012. Very deep ambery red colour, small beige head. Aroma is brady, earthy, some nutty notes and rather hoppy with some mild roasted notes. Not balanced. Flavour is roasted malts, some rather big hops and really a big mess this one.

66 cl bottle (4,7%) @ vPBF, BBE 30.06.2013
Aroma has ash, vanilla and hints of licorice. Flavour has lots of ash and some licorice. A bit light palate. Quite ashy and somewhat straightforward, but not bad still. This has some similarities with their peated porter.
