Bottle. Creamy off-white good mostly lasting head. Dark red-amber colour. Moderate malty and heavy hoppy aroma. Heavy bitter wonderfull roasted flavor. Long heavy bitter finish. Oily palate. Nice.

Bottle, Stirchley Wines, Birmingham. Deep dark brown looks with a thin off white head. Dark malts and hops ahoy nose-wise. Robust body. Flavour had roasted malts, citrus and piney hops aplenty. Spot on bitterness. Cracking stuff and a fine example of a great style.

Bottle from Mr Lawrence, SE London - Pours black with a healthy beige head. Aroma and taste of roasted/ashy malt, chocolate, licorice, nuances of citrus (grapefruit) in there as well. Very nice drop this, great stuff.

Dark color, nearly black. The hop aroma is quite perfumy, followed by nice roastiness. The roast malt character is a good companion of the dry mouthfeel; quite strong bitterness level, with some hop aromatic components.

Bottle., 11C. Black with a finger of beige head that lasts OK. Aroma of chocolate, licorice, gentle grapefruit. Silky texture with low carbonation. Taste is roasty and ashy with chocolate, coffee, grapefruit, pine. A little astringent. Quite a lot of bitterness, but it doesnโt leap out. Peppery at the end, too. Good.

Keg at The Hanging Bat. Dark brown body with a thin grey/tan head. Very faint lacing. Aroma of chocolate, marmalade and roasted malt. Flavour of chocolate ice-cream, coffee, smoke and roasted malt. Medium body with a sticky mouthfeel. Lively carbonation. Lots of flavour for 4.5% ABV.

Pours black with ruby highlights and a small head.Nose shows lots of roasted malt with some chocolate notes alongside some softer piny and spicy hops.Pretty aggressively roasty flavours too, more spicy and piny hops as well.Could use more carbonation.Could use more malt to balance the roasted grains and hops.

Cask at Dean Swift with Sarah. Pours a clear near black with a grayish brown head that dissipates to the edges and laces slightly. Aroma has a good amount of roast with dark grain and a slight earthy pine and grass underlying. Flavor has a good amount of dark grains with roast and a bit of pine and dryness coming out in the finish.
