Bottle. A more or less black one, topped by a dense, beige head. Some lacing. Quite funky, lightly vinegarish aroma with some roasted malts, coffee, peppery notes and a chocolate touch. It’s full-bodied and soft on the palate, with a faint warmth. Licorice, roasted malts, balsamic vinegar, coffee, chocolate and some dried fruits. Lasting finish. Tasteful and complex, well worth a revisit. 150724

Bottle thanks to Dirty Danny. It pours near black with a small tan head. The nose is rich roast, oily, liquorice, vanilla, dark chocolate, coffee and dirt. The taste is rich roast, slick, umami, toasty earth, liquorice, salty edge, plum skin, dried fruits, fruit cake, ash and charred wood with a dry, toasty finish. Medium-full body and moderate carbonation. Rather nice, great aroma anyhow. Lighter than you would expect on the taste.
