Voor de Wittoen vervangen we de hop door een aantal ouderwetse kruiden. Uiteindelijk bekomen we een subtiel gearomatiseerd, amberkleurig bier. Zeker proeven!

(Bottle 33 cl) Hazy, amber golden with some impurities and a tall, bubbly and lively, off-white head. Medium body with fairly sweet malts and fruit. Rather discreet bitterness. A very mellow Tripel - and somewhat unspectacular. 271207

BB 12/07: Orange amber with a fine egg white lasting fluffy head. Very speciel fruity, yeasty, earthy & slight spicy aroma. I like it. Taste is earthy and quite "old" or matured as well. This one would probobly been better a year ago. Sligth metallic.. malty, yeasty & fruity Medium soft body. Aroma was promising - taste disappointing!

Bottle: Poured a murky light brown with a creamy off white head. Sweet fruit and metallic spice aroma. Sweet caramel and metallic taste, the finish was a dry rusty flavor.

33cl bottle from Noel Cuveliers. My bottle was 8%. Clear amber, thick beige head. Oddly light tripel. Some peach/apricot. Not my favourite. Uncultured and a bit obvious. Soft in mouth. Some hop on end.l Not sure I like it.

A golden beer with a huge white head. The aroma is very sweet and quite spicy as well as a bit of dust from the hops. The flavor is very sweet with strong notes of fruit, peaches, and oranges, as well as spices. OK without being exceptional.

Bottled. A golden, slightly hazy beer with a small, white head. Weak aroma with sweetness and hops. The flavor has candi-sugar, some dried fruits, yeast and hops. Too much carbonation masks the alcohol, which is not present until the very end. Rating: 6-4-6-3-14-3.3. (060328)
Bottle at the Belgian Embassy in Oslo. (8% ABV) Pours a dark golden, clear body with a lively carbonation and a creamy, off-white head. Hoppy, herbal nose with malty sweetness and a fruityness. Quite bitter flavor, with sweetness and malt to balance it. Full-bodied beer with a long, bitter and fruity finish. The beer proves it is possible to brew nice beers without the use of hops, and still get a good bitterness. (080410)

The beer carries the catkin of the bog myrtle. It is quite unclear whether this was effectively used. Good fluffy, dirty white head, fast receding; murky peach to amber beer. Bit of caramel, white candi sugar, a touch of coriander and... dammit. Somethin used in haute cuisine , like a herb for flavouring salmon smoked Γ la minute. More coriander warming up, and cocos. Dry taste, coriander to the fore, lending it a fake citrus touch. Oh my, Marc had gone coriandering too. Belgiumβs brewers imitating their imitators. Itβs not too overpowering, rather chafing instead of irritating. Aromatic-soapy flavours. End bitterness, and getting a touch of cocos. Medium bodied. Not much going on. Remarkable how many want to make a tripel, remarkable how few achieve the looked-upon Westmalle Tripel quality...
