This beer started life as a double IPA aged in bourbon barrels where it was dry-hopped with Chinook hops. It was moved from the barrels and into a closed tank, and blended with a fresh double IPA brewed with Simcoe, Centennial and Mosaic hops. From there it was blended with passionfruit puree at a rate of nearly 8 lbs per barrel. The resulting beer is an unusual but intriguing beer, with intense tropical fruit flavors from both the hops and the passionfruit blended with a honey-like barrel flavor, a mild fruity tartness, and a firm DIPA bitterness. 465 bottle release.

750ml bottle pours out a crisp golden small head. Nose is odd barrel herbal spice. Taste is pineapple spice and a funky barrel.

Poured from a 750 ml bottle. Aroma is very hop forward with a lot of grapefruit, pine and resin. Lighter passion fruit, tropical fruit and bright citrus. Light caramel and medium light cracker malt notes. Light bourbon and oak notes. Pours a somewhat clear, golden color with a large, thick, white head that very slowly recedes to the edges where it lingers. High lacing and small legs. Flavor has a medium light sweetness with cracker, toasted bread and biscuit notes. Moderately strong hop notes with medium to medium strong bitterness. Lots of passion fruit with some lighter grapefruit and pine resin. Some other bright citrus and tropical fruit notes. Light oak and bourbon barrels. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a pretty decent IPA. Nice, hop notes with a good passion fruit character. Not as bright and fruity as other IPAs, but this one works. Medium malt character.
