Ieder jaar brouwt Jopen een nieuwe variant van Mashing Pumpkins in collaboration met SNAB Bierbrouwers. Mashing Pumpkins 7.0 heeft een mooie volle smaak van mout en karamel. Deze smaken worden aangevuld door de pompoen en de kruiden die in dit bier zijn verwerkt. Een perfect bier om in de stemming te komen voor Halloween.

Bottle at WVHNB. Hazy dark golden with small head. Cinnamon, speculaas, spices, light chili pepper, sweet grains, candy. Medium sweet with light spicy bitter finish and a tart touch. Medium to full bodied. Not my thing.

2014 Edition. The beer starts fruity-pumpkin intense, hints of spices. Fruit, easy to drink, pumpkin with a nice smooth yeast. Moderate bitter in the aftertaste.

Version 3.0 bottled in 2014. Cloudy medium amber colour with a lot of floating particles, small frothy off-white head, mostly diminishing. Fair lacing; aroma pumpkin, yeast, ginger, cinnamon, cloves. Taste medium sweet, light bitter, light pumpkin notes, spicy. Full body, oily to creamy texture, soft carbonation, aftertaste light bittersweet, quite peppery in the finish, bit salty too. Strange brew but overall ok.

Mashing Pumpkins - Keg at beer temple. Sweet, light fruit, caramel, burnt toffee. 3.5 Mashing pumpkins 2.0 - Keg at beer temple. Light, smoky, not much pumpkin. 3 Seemed like they were two different beers...

Heller, rund hefiger Antrunk, in dem die Kürbis Aromen gut gesetzt sind. Fruchtig, süffig, gelungen da nur subtil nach Kürbis. 12/8/9/8/8/8

Bottle shared at Chriso’s mid-week lasting 03/07/14. orange / amber coloured pour, semi- viscous, fleeting halo of off white head. Aroma is big spicy pumpkin, alcohol, touch of smoke, brown sugar. Flavour is sweet malts, nutmeg and pumpkin spices, some hot alchol in the finish. Hint of smoked malrs. Palate is medium full bodied, lowish carbonation. Decent SHV.

Bottle at Chriso going Dutch tasting, 03/07/14. Lightly hazed golden with a moderate light beige swirl and spotting. Nose is spice, pumpkin - for shure!, light smoke, dark fruit rinds, sugars. Taste comprises bitter fruits, pumpkin pie, light spice, caramel. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with light spice. Ok pumpkin affair but lacks depth for its ABV!

Craig on Heat Tasting at ChrisO’s. Clear burnished gold beer, small bubbly white head. Light semi dry palate, mild fine carbonation. Tiny bit of thin malt cream. Sweet fruity burst before the pumpkin kicks in. Thankfully not over spiced. Light semi dry finish. Not bad at all.
