Ieder jaar brouwt Jopen een nieuwe variant van Mashing Pumpkins in collaboration met SNAB Bierbrouwers. Mashing Pumpkins 7.0 heeft een mooie volle smaak van mout en karamel. Deze smaken worden aangevuld door de pompoen en de kruiden die in dit bier zijn verwerkt. Een perfect bier om in de stemming te komen voor Halloween.

3.0 version. Aroma of sweet malt, vegetables, pumpkin, spices. Flavour is rather sweet. Not very good. 2.0 version. Aroma of malts, pumpkin, vegetables, spices. Flavour is pumpkin, herbal. First pumpkin ale I’ve had, so I can’t compare it to others. Might revisit in time with more experience, I had a touch time with Smoked as well and I came to love that style. 4.0. Slight upgrade.

Bottle 0,33ltr: Hazy amber brew with an earthy like taste due the pumpkin and the finish is kinda sticky sweetbitter taste.

Can. Edition 8.0, the final mash. Unfortunately the last beer of SNAB, once pioneers in the Dutch Craft beer scene. Color: Slightly hazy amber, beige head. Aroma: Spicy, pumpkin. Taste: Very spicy. Clove, cinnamon, ginger. Pumpkin background. Medium body, just below average carbonation. Moderate sweet, light to moderate bitterness. Spicy winter warmer. Ok.

What's with all the bad ratings? This is a really nice and easy-going pumpkin ale. Pumpkin is very forward, but really nice, nicely combined with all the spices. Really good.

0.33 l bottle from 'Mitra' (Den Bosch), version #6.0, bottled in September 2017. Slightly hazy, deep red with a thin, frothy, almost stable, off-white head. Sweetish, malty, moderately spicy, a bit smoky and a little fruity aroma of caramel, pumpkin, smoked ham, some pine and a touch of cinnamon. Moderately sweet, malty, just slightly bitter, spicy, moderately smoky and a bit fruity taste of caramel, nuts, smoked ham, pumpkin, pine and some cinnamon, followed by a medium long, moderately bitter, herbal-spicy, slightly smoky and a bit resiny finish. Medium to full body, slightly creamy and moderately effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. A bit all over the place but quite enjoyable and not just a boring Pumpkin Ale.
